On Tuesday, I had my first OB doctor's appointment. We heard the baby's heartbeat and were excited about that and also that everything seems to be going fine. I expressed my concern over my terrible A1c, (8.9) and she assured me that "really I think anything in the 8's is ok". Honestly, I think that is bad advice, but it did make me feel better :) For her sake I will not repeat that to my endocrinologist...
Since I'm a Type 1, she's told me that I can go to Des Moines for a Level II ultrasound to get a little better view and a more in-depth study of all the baby's parts. With the other two kids, I refused -- opting instead to have a family friend (Jan) do the ultrasound here in town. I decided with this one though, to go to Des Moines -- if only for my peace of mind :) (Plus, I think it will be in 3D, and I've heard that's really great.) That appointment won't be for another 6 weeks, so I will try to be patient. Try.
I am 14/15 weeks along and will be due February 12. (Given my history of 10 pounders, I would guess very early February instead?)

Grant had his 1-year check-up yesterday. He was 95% for height, 90% for weight (I didn't even hear what he weighed -- Reagan was talking too much) and 40% for head size (??). The nurse was new and I think maybe she made a mistake -- that seems really low -- especially if you've seen Grant :)
He got 4 shots and a finger stick. He didn't cry for the finger stick, and he sat still because he was interested in what the lab technician was doing. That was great for me since I just finished trying to keep him (& Reagan-the-incessant-talker) entertained for the 45 minutes that the three of us spent in the 4' x 6', germ-filled, exam room. It was another "character-building" trip to the clinic.

Lastly, a conversation Reagan-the-incessant-talker and I had this morning as we were getting in the van to go to Sadie's:
Reagan: "Mommy, is that a diaper coupon you have in your hand?"
Me: "No Honey, it's for dog food."
(long pause)
Reagan: "Mom? Do we have a dog?"
(another long pause)
Me: "Um, no. We don't...? I was going to give the coupon to Sadie."
