First Day of School!

First some housekeeping: I haven't been updating this blog for several reasons... The first being that our camera broke, then we were in WI, and then life got too busy. I like to do posts in order for my own "history" purposes, but getting a post up about Grant's birthday, became too overwhelming and stopped my blogging completely.

I'm back and I will get to the other posts eventually :)

Today was Reagan's first day of Kindergarten and she couldn't have been more excited... She could hardly get to sleep last night which was so cute to me because I remember being exactly the same way. :) I loved the idea of new erasers, long, sharp pencils, and a brand new box of crayons - and I can tell that Reagan is the same way. I loved Elementary school and my hope is that Reagan will come away with tons a great memories, too.

On Tuesday night we took all her supplies to school, saw her class, and met her teacher. Everything went great, and Reagan didn't want to leave.

Reagan chose to wear her new dress and has been impatiently waiting to take her new shoes out of their box. And today was the big day!

I was up at 4:30 this morning worrying about things that only a mom would think of. Will she be able to open her milk carton at lunch and will I be able find her after school is over? Will she remember to flush? Use good manners? Have I adequately prepared her for the amount of promblem-solving she is going to have to do today?

She did get lost once but managed just fine. She opened her own milk (she chose chocolate) but said, "I think it was the hardest milk in the world!" She made a new friend named Mickayla and when I asked her what she liked about her, Reagan told me, "I don't know -- she was wearing a pony tail." (??) She hardly ate any of her lunch and when I asked why - she said that there were too many people there and not enough time to eat. I was not surprised to hear that. :)

As it turns out, the only thing she didn't have enough of before school was sleep. When I picked her up at 3 o'clock she was glassy-eyed and kind of quiet. After several bouts of crying tonight, she went to bed at 7:30 and was asleep immediately :)

Overall, the day was a success - particularly the rainbow shoes she'll probably still remember when she goes to college :)

Cute, huh?

This little cutie is the reason we had to buy a new camera - 6 months after we got a new one. She's also responsible for erasing my desktop icons and somehow disabling the laptop keyboard.

You would think her parents would move their laptop and keep their camera in a place that is safer than a diaper bag.
