Busy February Weekend
I generally try not to schedule too many things in a weekend. This weekend was the exception... First we took the kids to the water park in the "big city". I drove the kids down on Friday afternoon and met Joel there. The kids wanted to go straight to the pool...
Jackson thought it was pretty loud and I didn't think to bring swimming clothes for him - sorry Jackson.

The kids' sleeping corner. I think Reagan was asleep in this picture, Grant was asleep in less than 5 minutes and Riley was up for at least an hour. She kept trying to touch Grant's head and talk to us.

Powdered sugar doughnut faces in the morning. :)

We call these "motel doughnuts" and the kids only get them on "vacations" like this. :)

At the base of the "big" slides. The one time we lost Grant was when he followed some bigger boys, climbed three flights of stairs, and tried to go down these slides by himself without a life jacket. Thank goodness the teenage-texting lifeguard was paying attention and brought Grant back down the steps... by then I was running frantically from pool to pool frantically trying to find him. From then on he wore his life jacket 100% of the time.

On Sunday we took the kids to an ISU basketball game. They Reagan loved getting dressed up in their Cyclone clothes :)
Joel got the tickets from a guy at work, so there were two sets of two seats that were about a section apart.

I sat with Reagan the first half

and with Grant for the second half... then we took this pic at the end.

A Terrific Two-Year-Old
My Dear Riley Ann,
You are my spunky, silly, loud girl. I love your giggle and how quick you are to laugh - at least most of the time. You are all two-year-old attitude already. Heaven help the poor soul who tries to help you with your shoes or put on your pants. Now that you're learning to talk, you say "Mine!" and you say it with force.

You love singing and especially the song "Old MacDonald" and you insist that "No! Mom!" put you to bed every night.

You are tough as nails and fearless. I've seen you get knocked down and hit on the head - then shake it off and keep playing.

One of my favorite memories of this year is going to be when you learned to say "Stop that!" You turn around in your car seat and shout "STOP THAT!" towards Reagan and Grant in the backseat. Grant really hates it when you shout and most of the time you send him into a kicking-crying fit. Just because I don't do anything about it, doesn't mean I don't notice how you smirk when you push his buttons like that.

Riley, Riley you get away with stuff that you shouldn't, you know the word "pop" and you never miss a chance to ask for a drink of mine. You have a sweet tooth and can hear a candy wrapper open from 100 yards away. You are extroverted and the one who always wants to go to church and get out of the house.

You love your brothers and sister a lot. I can tell because you follow the older ones around andbug them try to play with them as much as you can. And I can tell you love Jackson by the way you pat his head and give him sloppy kisses. You call him "Jack Jack" and I love it :)

Happy Birthday! I hope you know how much your Dad and I love you.

Blizzard 2011
I'm really hoping that I don't have to go back and re-title this "The First Blizzard of 2011" :)
I have a love/hate relationship with living in the country... I love that its remote and quiet, but those are the exact reasons I get a little edgy when we have a blizzard. No one could get here to "save" us if our furnace goes out or if we had a sick child. I love the giant drifts and dread them all the same.

Its been a fun blizzard though - if there is such a thing. Joel was home Tuesday afternoon and all day today. We've had a fire in the fireplace and Joel even re-arranged so we could watch TV and sit by the fire... :)

The day after:

Our driveway - the tallest part on the left is eye-level:
