"Baby" Boot Camp

In my mind, I had set Christmas & New Year's as our last "fun" times before the new baby arrives. Its not that a new baby isn't fun - it is certainly exciting, but I'm not new at this -- I am very aware (maybe too much) of how hard it is going to be... :) So at our house, I've set aside January for laundry, furniture moving, cleaning, final doctor's appointments, and new "learning experiences" for the kids.

The kids were unaware of my motives, but "Baby Boot Camp" started this morning. I started them out with (what would seem like) easy lessons: how to watch the same movie, how to share a couch, and how to use the same blanket without requiring a mediator.

The day closed with both kids sharing a bedroom. Look at this picture -- what were we so worried about? All smiles! And then they went to bed without crying or really even bugging each other... (stay tuned for the "after" picture tomorrow morning that I'm sure will tell the real story.)

We made some progress today, but still have a lot of ground to cover in the next 3 weeks... On the "Boot Camp" agenda are: Learning to Buckle Your Own Seatbelt, Toy Clean-Up 101, Please! Sleep Through the Night, and Conflict Resolution Without Mom as Moderator. Wish me luck. :)
