Hospital Stay

Reagan got Strep again - the third time in three months. I took her to get an antibiotic on Wednesday but it didn't seem to be helping. Wednesday night was rough and Thursday night was terrible. He tonsils were so swollen they were touching and when she would fall asleep, she wouldn't be able to breathe unless she woke up. I waited until Friday afternoon to take her back to the clinic - thinking that maybe she would get better. She didn't and they admitted her.

We had a whole bunch of "firsts" together. Her first hospital stay, her first IV, her first CT scan. I thought we would be there a day - maybe two, but then she tested positive for mono. A pic of her after we got all checked in and geared up - with her new puppy, "Spot Barkers:" Day 2: Aunt Sandy and Uncle Greg brought some colored pencils and a Strawberry Shortcake coloring book. Reagan and I spent lots of time coloring in this book! :) The first night was really terrible - she had Decacron shots every 6 hours and each time they would make her throw up. Add to that - they made her delusional and she was really overtired from being up two nights before. She kept trying to get out of bed, pull out her IV, and take her gown off. The 10 minutes I fell asleep, she ended up getting/falling out of bed and hitting her head. So for the second night, they got her this new bed: On Day 3, our neighbor came over (again :) and brought Reagan some new PJs - I gave her a bath and she felt better being clean and in fresh clothes - thank you, Lynn! This was Sunday - the day we had tickets for the Imagination Movers concert. Reagan couldn't go and was sad so it was good to have some distractions! On Day 4, Reagan's friend Sofie and her mom came up to visit. Sofie brought Reagan a "scribble stick" from the Imagination Movers concert and a movie... I guess I was talking too much to remember to take a picture, but here are the kids next day watching the movie. :) On Tuesday Reagan was doing a lot better. My sister and Addy came for a visit and the girls were pretty goofy. They colored and painted and laughed together. And then she slept through the night! Her breathing was so quiet and soft it was such a huge relief to me. I stayed up late again just to be sure and watch her, but she was perfect all night! :) Finally home - Cooper is happy to see her :) This is a video of her breathing - I think it was like the third night in the hospital.
