This is a picture of the "Grumpy Old Troll" for those of you who don't watch as much Dora as I do.
I have been sort of grouchy this last week. (I think much of it has to do with the weather and my need for clear roads, a break, and some fresh air.) But you know how kids are -- they pick up on stuff, so whether you feel grumpy or not, you need to put on a smile and 'use your kind words'.
Yesterday, Reagan was being Reagan and walking on a plastic piano toy of Grant's. I corrected her and explained that she could break it by standing on it, and that's not how we treat toys, please get down, etc., etc. She complied, but in 5 minutes she was back to doing the same thing. I first asked her nicely to get down and when she didn't obey right away, I said "Reagan. Stop. Get down." in my authoritative "mom voice". She got down , sauntered over to where I was sitting, smiled kindly, and said "What's the matter, Grumpy Old Troll?" She was trying to be sweet, but I burst out laughing.
I said "Reagan, did you call me Grumpy Old Troll because I said "Reagan. Stop."?" She smiled shyly and said "yeeeeees?". So I grabbed her and tickled her, because what else can you do?
I learned two lessons from this: I need to cheer up and Reagan watches too much Dora.
